Hello, my name is Geoffrey Ellis, and I am an artist currently living in Humboldt County, California. I am very fortunate to live in a truly inspiring place. My home is in the redwood forest on a ridge that looks out over the Pacific Ocean. I work full-time at making flutes in a setting that really supports me in giving my attention to my craft with few distractions
Though not Native American myself, I became interested in making Native American style flutes after I was given one as a gift. I fell in love with this beautiful, soulful instrument, and the more I played it, the more I wanted to explore its potential. I wanted to be able to play in different keys - to have different voices - so I began researching the craft of flute-making.
It has been a tremendous journey, and I devoted countless hours to this craft and made thousands of flutes along the way. I gradually expanded my knowledge, gaining the consistency and quality of workmanship that makes Earth Tone Flutes among the finest quality Native American style flutes available anywhere.
More recently, I have embarked upon a new phase of my flute-making journey and have been creating various types of World Flutes (Quena, Xiao, Transverse, Pueblo-style flutes like the Anasazi and Mojave 6, as well as some of my own "fusion flutes").
Each Earth Tone Flute is a precision tuned, concert quality instrument, made with love and enthusiasm. I consider it a privilege to create these beautiful flutes, and it is my wish that some of the joy that I experience in making them will live in each one that I sell. It is also my wish that you will find as much pleasure in playing your flute as I found in mine, thereby giving it the greatest blessing that it can receive.
